Bulgaria's National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) awarded three contracts worth a total of 273 million levs ($180.3 million/139.6 million euro) for an EU-funded upgrade of the Dimitrovgrad-Svilengrad railway section, in the south of the country.
Each of the three contracted companies will upgrade a separate subsection, NRIC said in a press release.
The reconstruction works will include the electrification of the railway track with a length of over 70 km that leads to Bulgaria's border with Greece.
The project is financed under the EU-funded operational programme Transport and the ISPA pre-accession programme.
