Bulgaria signs 5G security declaration, MoU on nuclear energy with US

Bulgaria's government said that it has signed agreements with the U.S. concerning the safety of 5G infrastructure and the use of nuclear energy for civilian purposes.

In view of the challenges to the traditional ways of communication raised by the coronavirus pandemic, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure the security and transparency of 5G networks, prime minister Boyko Borissov said in a press release on Friday.

The 5G security agreement was signed as part of the U.S. Clean Network program.

"The Clean Network program is the Trump Administration’s comprehensive approach to safeguarding the nation’s assets including citizens’ privacy and companies’ most sensitive information from aggressive intrusions by malign actors, such as the Chinese Communist Party," according to the U.S. Department of State.
