Bulgaria's Defense Minister Gen. Anyu Angelov has welcomed in Sofia NATO Special Operations Commander Gen. Frank Kisner.
Gen. Kisner is in Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgaria's Head of Defense Gen. Simeon Simeonov.
Angelov has notified Kisner that Bulgaria's Defense Ministry has taken up drafting a doctrine for the development and use of forces for special operations.
"Your visit comes at a very important moment for us as we have started to implement the Plan for Development of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria approved by the Cabinet at the end of last year," Angelov told the NATO Special Operations Commander.
The Bulgarian Defense Minister has underscored Bulgaria's expectations that NATO's Special Operations Command will create unified standards, procedures, and requirements with respect to the transformation of NATO's capabilities in that field, which would also contribute to the development of the forces for special operations at the national level.
Angelov told the NATO commander that the doctrine for the Bulgarian special operation forces will be in live with existing concepts of the Alliance.
