The regional development ministry invites eligible tenderers to express interest in a project for construction works on the Plovdivtsi Dam and a water treatment plant.
The dam and water treatment plant are located in the southern part of the Rhodopes, 14 kilometres away from the town of Rudozem, near the Greek border, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Plovdivtsi reservoir is designed to supply water supply to the municipalities of Rudozem and Madan, with a population of some 40,000 residents. The rock-fill type facility with an asphalt-concrete diaphragm has so far been built up to approximately 38% of the design height.
The selected contractor will have to perform excavation works, civil engineering works related to the tailrace and outlet gallery, to develop control and measuring system, to rehabilitate the trench spillway and water intake tower and to build a water treatment plant, among other activities.
Eligible tenderers should have built at least one large dam and should have built and put into operation at least one water treatment plant with a capacity of 150 litres per second.
Bids have to be submitted by February 26. Financing will be provided from the proceeds of a World Bank loan.
