Bulgaria Secures Simultaneous Interpreting for EU Presidency

The government has given a mandate to the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2018, Lilyana Pavlova, to sign an agreement with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Interpretation. The aim is to ensure the simultaneous translation for the highest-level events of the Bulgarian presidency, the government’s press office said.
The presidency will have a sufficient number of accredited interpreters with experience who will guarantee the quality of translation and the confidentiality of documents and meetings.
Bulgaria has requested assistance from the Directorate General for Interpretation amid the unprecedented large number of interpreters it needs for the presidency.
The Directorate provides interpreters for nearly 11,000 meetings a year.
