Bulgaria’s electricity production decreased by an annual 2.77% to 21,332 GWh in the January 1 - June 24 period, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO). Electricity consumption fell 5.50% on the year to 18,783 GWh, data published on the ESO website shows.Power exports rose by 23.54% year-on-year to 2,549 GWh in the period under review.Last year, Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system edged down 0.45% on the year to 614 GWh in the January 1 – June 24 period, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system decreased by 9.12% year-on-year to 813 GWh.
