Bulgaria's y/y Inflation Rate Reaches 5.6%

Bulgaria's annual inflation rate reached 5.6% in March 2011, according to the country's National Statistical Institute's consumer price index (CPI).

The consumer price index in March 2011 compared to February 2011 was 100.6%, i.e. the monthly inflation was 0.6%. The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (March 2011 compared to December 2010) was 2.4%.

The annual average inflation, measured by CPI, in the last 12 months (April 2010 - March 2011) compared to the previous 12 months (April 2009 - March 2010) was 3.5%.

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) in March 2011 compared to March 2010, i.e. the annual inflation, was 4.6%, while the monthly inflation in March 2011 compared to February 2011 was 0.4%. The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (March 2011 compared to December 2010) was 1.4%.

The annual average inflation, measured by HICP, in the last 12 months (April 2010 - March 2011) compared to the previous 12 months (April 2009 - March 2010) was 3.7%.

The consumer price index (CPI) is the official measure of inflation in Bulgaria.The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is the comparable measure of inflation across EU member states.
