Bulgaria's Smolyan water utility signs 11.5 mln euro infrastructure upgrade deal

Bulgaria's ViK Smolyan, the water utility servicing the city of Smolyan, said on Monday that it has awarded a 22.5 million levs ($12.7 million/11.5 million euro) water supply and sewage infrastructure upgrade deal to a local tie-up.The tie-up comprises Avtomagistrali Hemus, Avtomagistrali-Tcherno More and Proenergomontazh, ViK Smolyan said in a notice.The contract envisages the construction of 2,692 metres of new water supply pipelines and the rehabilitation of 5,431 metres of existing ones. The deal also provides for the construction of 8,452 metres of new sewage pipelines, and the reconstruction of 9,070 metres of the existing sewage network.The deal was signed on January 13, according to the notice.Eight bidders submitted offers in the tender for the contract.The project benefits from EU funding under Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020. According to registry agency data, Avtomagistrali Hemus controls 69% interest in the tie-up, Proenergomontazh holds 30%, while Avtomagistrali-Tcherno More has 1% interest.
