Bulgaria’s Schengen Entry Set as Priority for Cyprus EU Presidency

The future Cyprus EU Presidency declared it will attach priority importance to Bulgaria and Romania's accession to the Schengen area, it emerged after a meeting between the interior ministers of the three countries.

The three ministers discussed specific measures aiming to bring about a positive outcome for Bulgaria and Romania in September, state-run Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported on Friday.

The meeting was part of Bulgaria's interior minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov attendance at the European Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg, where he also held informal meetings with counterparts from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the EU Home Affairs Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstrom.
