Bulgaria's Minister of Regional Development, Liliyana Pavlova, is going to directly manage the EU operational program Regional Development of which she was in charge as Deputy Minister at the same institution.
Pavlova is also going to be in charge of the Road Infrastructure Agency, which deals with projects for construction and repairs of roads and highways, along with the Management of Territorial Cooperation Directorate, which is the governing authority for trans-border cooperation.
The information was reported Monday by the Ministry's press center.
The decision for Pavlova to not delegate these duties to her deputies comes on grounds that activities of the Ministry in these three sectors are top priority and extremely important.
Deputy Regional Minister, Nikolay Nankov, who prior to his appointment at the Ministry was the Governov of the Lovech Region, will be in charge of the National Construction Control Directorate (DNSK). DNSK deals with checking construction and demolishing illegal buildings. He will also oversee the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, the planning of regional development, and the Main Directorate Civil Registration and Administrative Services (GRAO), which until now was under the authority of another Deputy - Ekaterina Zaharieva.
Zaharieva will lead the Directorates for Territorial Planning and Concessions, for State Property, for Trade Associations and State Enterprises and for Housing Policy.
The new Deputy Minister, Nikolina Nikolova, will be in charge of the development and implementation of the Danube strategy, of the strategy for integrated maritime policy and the 2020 road strategy. (Source: Sofia News Agency)
