Bulgaria's Q4 Residential Building Permits Number Falls 17% Y/Y

Bulgaria issued 992 building permits for residential projects in the fourth quarter of 2012, down 16.9% from a year earlier, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.

In the three months through December the building permits for residential projects decreased by 14.4% from the previous quarter, INS said in a statement.

As many as 3,162 building permits were issued for dwellings with a total volume of 389,239 square metres (sq m) in the fourth quarter of 2012, compared with 2,945 dwellings with a volume of 414,419 sq m a year earlier.

The biggest number of building permits were issued in the Black Sea port city of Burgas - 156, second came Plovdiv with 116 and third was the other major Black Sea port city of Varna with 95 permits.
