Bulgaria's Q2 Household Expenditure y/y Growth Outpaces Rise in Income

The average expenditure per household member in Bulgaria increased by an annual 11.4% in the second quarter of the year, while the average income per household member rose 8.7% during the review period, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Wednesday.
Household members spent an average of 1,331 levs ($770.7/680.5 euro) during the second quarter of 2018, while their income amounted to 1,474 levs in the same period, NSI said in a statement.
Expenses for food accounted for 31.5% of the total household expenditure, while expenditure on housing contributed a further 15.9%. Taxes and social insurance contributions constituted 13.7% of the total expenditure, followed by transport and communication with 12.1%.
