Bulgaria's Q1 GDP Grows 2% Y/Y

According to preliminary estimates, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Bulgaria in the first quarter of 2015 exceeded 17 billion levs, amounting to 2395 levs per capita. Thus, GDP increased by 2 % in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter last year and recorded a growth of 0.9 % compared to the last quarter of 2014. This becomes clear from the latest figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which were released on Thursday. In the first quarter of 2015, the number of employed people aged 15 or above stood slightly below three million, their number representing 47.7 % of the population in this age group. Compared to the first quarter of 2014, their relative share increased by 1.2 %.
