Bulgaria's NPP Kozloduy opens 14.5 mln euro tender for neutron flux control system upgrade

Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Kozloduy said on Friday that it has launched a tender for awarding a contract for the modernisation of the neutron flux control systems of its units 5 and 6, worth an estimated 28.9 million levs ($16.1 million/14.8 million euro), VAT excluded.The equipment should be able to operate safely when the plant's reactors are operating at 104% thermal capacity, the power plant operator said in a tender notice.The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is November 4. Selected candidates are expected to be invited to submit offers on December 4.NPP Kozloduy's four other units, of 440 MW each, were closed down to address nuclear safety concerns of the European Union prior to Bulgaria's accession to the bloc in 2007.
