Bulgaria's Metalic Seeks Suspension of 43.5 Mln Euro Excavator Repair Tender

Bulgaria's competition regulator said it has received a complaint from local company Metalic, asking for suspension of coal miner Mini Maritsa Iztok's 85.0 million levs ($50.7 million/43.5 million euro) tender for the overhaul of five bucket wheel excavators. The complaint was submitted on June 20, according to data from the competition authority's website. State-owned Mini Maritsa Iztok opened the tender last month. The deadline for submitting offers is July 10.Mini Maritsa Iztok's coal mines in southern Bulgaria sell their output mainly to three thermal power plants located nearby, two of which owned by international power corporations ContourGlobal and AES, and one is state-owned. The two power plants owned by ContourGlobal and AES generate around 30% of Bulgaria's electricity output.(1 euro=1.95583 levs)
