Bulgaria will complete the construction of the Maritsa motorway in the south of the country by the end of 2014, the regional development ministry said on Thursday.
The construction of the motorway started in 2011, according to the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) data.
The motorway, which consists of two lots, is part of pan-European transport Corridor IV. It will complete the connection between the capital Sofia and the Turkish and Greek borders. Its construction began in 1979.
The Maritsa motorway is estimated to cost some 204 million euro ($279 million). It is 80%-financed under the EU-funded Cohesion fund and 20% - financed by the state budget.
