The average monthly salary in Bulgaria rose by 4.9% month-on-month to 754 levs ($498.5/385.5 euro) in March, the National Statistics Institute said.
In the first quarter of 2012 the average monthly salary increased to 731 levs, up by 8.9% compared to a year earlier, the statistics office said in a statement on Friday.
In the three months through March the average monthly salary in the public sector grew by an annual 3.6%, while in the private sector it was up by 11.1%.
The highest annual increase in the average monthly salary in the first quarter, by 18.7%, was registered in information and communications services.
