Bulgaria's Lilyana Pavlova takes up duties as EIB vice-president

Bulgaria's Lilyana Pavlova has been appointed vice-president of the European Investment Bank (EIB), becoming the first Bulgarian national to join the bank's management committee, the EIB said on Tuesday."I am pleased to join the EU bank and to be part of an institution that fosters investments for a sustainable and inclusive growth in Europe and beyond," Pavlova said in a statement published by the EIB.Pavlova took up her duties on November 1, replacing Vazil Hudak whose mandate as vice-president terminated at the end of October.She was appointed with the agreement of the constituency of EIB shareholders composed of Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. The management committee is the EIB’s permanent collegiate executive body, consisting of a president and eight vice-presidents. It collectively oversees the day-to-day running of the EIB as well as preparing and ensuring the implementation of the board of directors' decisions.
