The average monthly salary in Bulgaria edged down by 0.4% month-on-month to 755 levs ($476/386 euro) in June, the National Statistics Institute said.
In the second quarter of 2012 the average monthly salary increased to 758 levs, up by 8.4% compared to a year earlier, the statistics office said in a statement on Thursday. In the April-June period, the average salary in the public sector grew by an annual 4.0%, while in the private sector it was up by 10.2%.
The highest annual increase for the average monthly salary in the second quarter, by 22.1%, was registered in the sector of 'other services activities', followed by the wholesale and retail trade where monthly wages rose by 18.9% on the year.
