Bulgaria’s January jobless rate edged up 0.4 percentage points from the previous month to 12.2%, the country’s Employment Agency said.
A total of 401,233 unemployed were registered with the agency’s offices at the end of last month, up by 15,056 from December.
The number of people who found a job in January totalled 16,692. Job vacancies amounted to 10,968 last month.
In January, the biggest number of job vacancies was reported in manufacturing, 3,725.
Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007, has a population of 7.3 million.
The share of the industrial sector fell to 24.6%, while that of services rose to 71.5%.
