Bulgaria's gross foreign debt totalled 37.85 billion euro ($49.9 billion) at the end of last year, up from 35.85 billion euro at the end of 2011, the central bank said.
At end-December, Bulgaria's gross foreign debt was equivalent to 95.6% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for 2012, the central bank said in a statement.
Bulgaria's long-term foreign debt was 27.24 billion euro and the short-term debt totalled 10.6 billion euro at the end of December.
Bulgarian banks foreign debt totalled 6.45 billion euro, up by 14.3% from a year earlier. It was equivalent to 16.3% of the projected GDP.
