Bulgaria's Gross Foreign Debt Rises to 36.5 Bln Euro at End-Aug

Bulgaria's gross foreign debt totalled 36.45 billion euro ($47.4 billion) at the end of August, up from 35.846 billion euro at the end of 2011, the central bank said.

At the end of August, Bulgaria's gross foreign debt was equivalent to 92.2% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for 2012, the central bank said in a statement on Tuesday.

Bulgaria's long-term foreign debt was 26.958 billion euro and the short-term debt totalled 9.493 billion euro at the end of August.

The banks' foreign debt totalled 5.48 billion levs at end-August, down by 3.0% from the end of last year. It was equivalent to 13.9% of the GDP.
