Bulgaria's gross foreign debt totalled 35.487 billion euro ($44.5 billion) at the end of April, up from 35.385 billion euro at the end of 2011, the central bank said.
At the end of April, Bulgaria's gross foreign debt was equivalent to 89.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for 2012, the central bank said in a statement on Monday.
Bulgaria's long-term foreign debt was 25.72 billion euro and its short-term debt totalled 9.77 billion euro at the end of April.
Bulgarian banks' external debt amounted to 5.62 billion euro at the end of April, equivalent to 14.1% of the projected GDP. It was 15 million euro less than at the end of last year with 638 million euro lower than in end-April 2011.
