Bulgaria's gross foreign debt totalled 35.37 billion euro ($44.77 billion) at the end of March, down from 35.38 billion euro at the end of 2011, the central bank said.
At the end of March, Bulgaria's gross foreign debt was equivalent to 88.8% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for 2012, the central bank said in a statement.
Bulgaria's long-term foreign debt was 25.43 billion euro and its short-term debt totalled 9.94 billion euro at the end of March.
At the end of March, Bulgarian banks' external debt totalled 5.73 billion euro, equivalent to 14.4% of the GDP, up from 5.64 billion euro at the end of last year.
