Bulgaria's Govt Survives No-Confidence Vote over Healthcare Policy

Bulgaria's ruling coalition of GERB and nationalist alliance United Patriots survived on Wednesday a no-confidence vote sought by the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) over healthcare policy issues, the parliament said. The censure motion was rejected in a 131-to-104 vote, the parliament's press office said. Besides BSP, the motion was backed by the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS. The vote was prompted by the government's plan to introduce an additional mandatory health insurance contribution, which, according to the Socialists, would be unconstitutional.
