Bulgaria's gross external debt at the end of January 2016 amounted to 33.85 billion euros (73% of the GDP), which is 239,2 euros less compared to the end of 2015, the Bulgarian National Bank announced. Compared to the end of January last year, the external debt decreased by 5 billion euros.
The gross external debt of the government sector was 5.468 billion euros (or 11.8% of the GDP) in late January, which recorded an 107.5 million euros fall compared to the end of 2015. This indicator decreased by 161 million euros compared to January last year.
The external debt of the bank sector is currently less than 4 billion euros (8.7% of the GDP), which fell by 108 million euros for a month and 1.325 euros billion year-on-year.
