Bulgaria's state debt totalled 7.63 billion euro ($10.4 billion) at the end of May, down 1.6% from a month earlier, finance ministry figures indicated.
External government debt edged up to 3.99 billion euro in May from 3.98 billion euro at the end of April, data published on the ministry’s website showed.
The country's domestic state debt was equivalent to 8.7% of its gross domestic product (GDP), while external state debt was equivalent to 9.0% of GDP at the end of May.
