Bulgaria's Economy Shows First Signs of Recovery

Bulgaria's economy is showing first signs of recovery, an industry research showed on Wednesday.

The rise of exports since the end of 2009, and especially in the first five months of 2010, and the slowdown of unemployment signal that local companies should start preparing for increased production, a survey by the Bulgarian Industrial Association showed. The survey covers the period between 2005 and 2009.

Bulgaria's jobless rate fell to a preliminary 9.23% in July, posting a decrease for a fifth consecutive month, according to data of the National Statistics Institute. The country's January - May exports to EU contries rose by 12.3% on an annual basis, totalling 6.3 billion levs.
