Bulgaria’s consumer sentiment index decreased by 0.6 percentage points at the end of July as compared to the previous consumer survey in April, due to a drop in confidence among rural population, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Tuesday.The consumers’ opinion about the development of the general economic situation in the country over the past 12 months and their expectations for the next 12 months was slightly worse at the end on July compared with April, the NSI said in a statement.Urban population expects unemployment levels to remain unchanged or slightly decrease, while consumers in rural areas expect an increase in unemployment.The survey registered improvement in the assessment of the current situation for making major purchases of durable goods, the NSI noted.
