Bulgaria's May business sentiment index edged down by 1.1 percentage points from the previous month after declining by 0.6 points in April, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.
In May, the industrial sub-index decreased by 4.4 percentage points on the month due to managers’ worsening assessments about the present business situation of the enterprises, the NSI said in a statement.
The sub-index in construction lost 1.9 percentage points from April, due to the shifting of the construction entrepreneurs’ assessments about the business situation of their companies from “good” towards “satisfactory”.
The retail sub-index rose by 3.4 percentage points on the month in May due to the improved retailers’ expectations about the business situation over the next six months.
The business climate gauge in the services sector edged up by 1.9 percentage points month-on-month in May. Managers said they do not foresee a hike in prices over the next three months.
