Bulgaria's Business Sentiment Index Falls in Aug

Bulgaria's August business sentiment index fell by 3.3 percentage points from the previous month, after rising by 1.1 points in July, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said on.

In August, the industrial sub-index lost 2.8 percentage points on the month, due to managers' more pessimistic assessment of the present business situation. Overall, they expect the prices to preserve their level in the next three months.

The sub-index in construction dropped by 6.9 percentage points from July, as managers were more pessimistic in their expectations regarding the business situation over the next six months. They expect prices to maintain their current level in the following three months.

The retail sub-index went down 1.7 percentage points on the month in August, due to managers' more moderate assessment of the current business situation. Their expectations for the sector development in the following six months, however, are more favourable. The uncertain economic situation remains the main problem for the retail business. Overall, managers do not expect prices to increase in the next three months.

The business climate gauge in the services sector lost 2.0 percentage points in August, as managers' expectations about the business situation in the next six months shifted from 'better' to 'the same'. They expect prices to remain steady over the next three months.
