The average monthly pay in Bulgaria grew 4.2 per cent in quarterly terms to 699 leva in the second quarter of 2011, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said on August 9.The average salary in the country stood at 690 leva in June alone, down from 698 leva in May and 710 leva in April.The quarterly increase was attributed to the recruitment of lower-paid workers in the period, mainly at hotels and restaurants, where official remuneration is at about 450 leva a month, the report said.In terms of quarterly growth, people engaged in financial services sector and insurance topped the list with the largest rise in salary of 9.7 per cent to 1429 leva in the second quarter.Employees in the segment of creation and distribution of information and creative products, namely publishers of books, newspapers and magazines, production of movies, radio and television programmes and recording, enjoyed the highest paycheck in the country of 1574 leva.
