Bulgaria's Anti-Trust Body Suspends 127 Mln Euro Railway Upgrade Tender

Bulgaria's competition regulator said it has temporarily suspended a 248.4 million levs ($147 million/127 million euro) tender for the upgrade of Orizovo - Mihaylovo railway section over a complaint filed by local company Eurobau Engineering. The Commission for Protection of Competition launched proceedings on October 9, after receiving Eurobau Engineering's complaint on October 5, according to data published on the website of the regulator. Eurobau Engineering's complaint concerns clarifications on the terms of the tender provided by Bulgarian state-owned National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) on September 28.NRIC launched the tender in July and set October 11 as the deadline for the submission of offers. The contract will be partially financed with EU funds under Operational Programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020.Eurobau Engineering specialises in water supply and sanitation construction works, according to data from the website of the company.
