Bulgaria's competition regulator said it has dismissed the request of local company Ros BG for suspension of a 195.4 million levs ($117.7 million/99.9 million euro) tender for overhaul of the signaling and telecommunication systems on the Plovdiv-Burgas railway section. The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) opened proceedings in relation to the complaint on June 19, according to data published on the regulator's website. The suspension is not in line with public interest, as the Plovdiv-Burgas railroad is a key part of the Orient/East-Med Corridor and the project's implementation will contribute to the fulfilment of different obligations under international treaties, the regulator said in its decision. In addition, Ros BG's interests will be unharmed if the procedure proceeds according to plan, as the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) will be unable to sign a contract with the selected candidate prior to CPC's final decision on the complaint.
