Bulgaria's Airports Handled Nearly 7.0 Mln Passengers in 2013

Airports in Bulgaria serviced a record high seven million international flight passengers in 2013, up by 4.0% on an annual basis, the Sofia News Agency (Novinite.com) reported.
In 2013, Bulgarian airlines handled more than 2.0 million passengers, which is an annual increase by nearly 6.0%, the news agency reported, quoting the Bulgarian Airline Association (BAA).
Foreign air carriers were the choice of almost 5.0 million passengers, an increase by over 3.0% compared to 2012.
Some major problems facing the sector are the shortage of pilots because of costly training, and the fact that Bulgaria is still not a member of the Schengen area, according to BAA representatives.
