Bulgaria and Romania will set up a joint venture company to manage a second bridge over the Danube river linking the two countries, it emerged after a meeting between Bulgarian prime minister Boiko Borisov and his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta in Bucharest on Friday, state-run Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.
Romania is also interested in participating in a Qatari project for the construction of a highway between the Bulgarian cities of Svilengrad and Ruse, BNR cited Borisov as saying.
The bridge linking the Bulgarian town of Vidin, in the northwest, with Romania's Calafat on the opposite bank of the river will have four road lanes and a railway line and is expected to be completed by the end of November. The two countries currently have a bridge link at Ruse/Giurgiu.
