With such intensive commercial exchange Bulgaria and Romania should have at least five Danube bridges, minister in charge of EU funds absorption Tomislav Donchev said at a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Leonard Orban.
Orban, accompanied by a large expert delegation, is in Bulgaria on a working visit for exchange of experience in the management of EU funding, state-run Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported.
No decision has been taken yet for a new bridge, although Romania is open for talks, BTA cited Orban as saying at a news conference following his meeting with Donchev.
At present, there is only one operational bridge linking Ruse and Giurgiu. A second one - between Vidin and Calafat - is under construction as is expected to be completed at the end of November. There have been talks about a third and fourth bridge at Oryahovo-Bechet and Silistra-Calarasi.
