Bulgaria Risks Losing EU Funding of 45 Mil Euros for Gas Link with Greece

Bulgaria may lose 45 mil euros in EU funding if the gas grid interconnection with Greece is delayed, according to former Deputy Prime Minister Daniela Bobeva.
Speaking Friday in Kardzhali, she said that the municipal councils at the three municipalities on the route of the pipeline, Kirkovo, Momchilgrad, and Kardzhali, had to adopt an urgent decision on the detailed site development plans of the conduit.
Experts made clear that the compensations would be calculated in the same way regardless of the form of ownership of the land which the pipeline would cross.
The pipeline is to be built by the joint venture ICGB (Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria) comprising the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) and IGI Poseidon.
The joint venture is in charge of financing, designing and building the gas grid interconnection.
