Bulgaria Requests 6.0 Mln Euro in Refugee Aid

Bulgaria has asked the European Union for a further 6.0 million euro to cope with the  refugee influx, interior minister Tsvetlin Yovchev said, as quoted by the Sofia News Agency (Novinite.com).
The size of the financial assistance which the EU will provide will become known by the end of the week, the news agency quoted Yovchev as saying.
Yovchev also said that the government is in constant contact with Turkey and Greece over the refugee crisis, and that he will meet with his Greek counterpart on Thursday.
Bulgarian authorities project that the number of asylum seekers in the country may reach 11,000 by the end of the year.
