Bulgaria reports its first bird flu outbreak in 2021

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency said on Wednesday that it has detected the first outbreak of bird flu this year, at a hen farm in the village of Slavyanovo, in Pleven region.

All of the birds at the farm, about 99,000 laying hens, will be culled, the food safety agency said in a statement.

The agency has set up a three-kilometre prevention zone and a ten-kilometre surveillance zone around the farm.
