Bulgaria will strive to have a new natural gas supply contract with Russia's Gazprom by the end of the summer, economy minister Delyan Dobrev said.
Sofia's suggestions for lowering gas supply prices include binding them to spot market quotations of not just petroleum products as is the case now, Dobrev told Capital Daily in an interview.
Bulgaria will aim to ensure maximum flexibility and will avoid long-term contracts.
Dobrev stressed that by 2018 the gas interconnectors with Greece, Romania, Serbia and Turkey will be in place and that Bulgaria will be able to rely on supplies from a new pipeline, possibly Nabucco.
