“The EU and NATO should examine Southeast Europe not as a periphery but as a centre of geopolitical interests and policies,” said Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev in his statement at the meeting of the state leaders of the NATO member states from Central and East Europe in Bucharest, the press centre of the President’s Office announced.
The Bulgarian Head of State described the situation around the security in the region as unpredictable, as a result of the record-high number crisis.
“The citizens feel this uncertainty and expect the politicians to act decisively, to work for the solution of the crises and not for their worsening. We should not wait to see the crises aired on TV in order to take actions. It is high time to join our efforts to eliminate the reasons and not the consequences of these crises.
Peace is not restricted within the absence of war. Peace also means rules and supremacy of the law that are valid for everyone.
NATO should be ready to welcome the challenges “from all directions”,” Mr Plevneliev said.
