“The European Union (EU) is a unique project for peace, the most successful process of regional integration and the biggest space for human rights and freedoms in the world,” Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said during a discussion with schoolchildren and university students organised on the occasion of Europe Day, the press centre of the President’s Office announced.
“Today the EU is the biggest economy in the world but also the best thing established after the centuries of bloody conflicts. Today is the day when we remember why we are so much proud of United Europe and why it is so important to support our common European project,” the Bulgarian Head of State remarked.
In his words, the fact that the EU is established as a project beyond borders and national egoism makes it a project that is capable of resisting the future conflicts.
“The wish for peace in Europe helps for overcoming the unprecedented number of crises the continent was faced with in 2015,” Mr Plevneliev pointed out.
