Protesting Greek farmers have recently blocked traffic at some Bulgarian-Greek border checkpoints.
The Bulgarian authorities got in touch with their Greek counterparts and representatives of Greece over the matter.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov held a telephone conversation with Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras over problems at the Bulgarian-Greek border, the press service of the Government announced on Tuesday.
PM Borisov said nearly 1,800 heavy-freight vehicles were waiting on both sides of the border over road blockades on Greek territory, which resulted in heavy losses and sanctions.
Mr Borisov stressed internal issues should not turn into a reason for violating the right to free movement of people and goods.
