The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) said that the day ahead power market coupling with Greece is planned to go live in April, while the one with Romania is scheduled for August.
"The market coupling with Greece and Romania with planned go-live in April and August respectively is of strategic importance for us. We work on their successful implementation together with ESO," Konstantnin Konstantinov, CEO of IBEX, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The day ahead power market in Bulgaria was launched in January 2016, and currently has 80 participants.
The day ahead market registered a monthly traded volume record in December 2020, of 1,754,887.8 MWh.
IBEX, established in 2014, holds a 10-year license by the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission for organizing a Power Exchange for electricity in Bulgaria. IBEX is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, which acquired the company in 2017.
