Bulgaria Lays Basis for Talks with Potential Chinese Investors in Road Projects

Bulgaria's government said on Wednesday that it approved a framework agreement which will serve as the basis for negotiations with potential Chinese investors in major Bulgarian road infrastructure projects. There is a growing interest from Chinese construction companies towards participation in such projects, through public-private partnerships or concession contracts, the government said in a statement following its weekly meeting. The government has received official letters of intent or draft framework agreements from Chinese companies interested in Bulgaria's projects for construction of Veliko Tarnovo - Russe motorway, the Shipka tunnel in the Balkan mountain range, Vidin-Botevgrad motorway and the Black Sea motorway. In 2013, China launched One Belt, One Road initiative as a development campaign which provides a framework for integrating the country more deeply into the world economy.
