Bulgaria Launches EU-funded Advertising Campaign to Boost Domestic Tourism
Tuesday, 27 January 2015
Bulgaria’s Ministry of Tourism has launched a campaign to advertise 50 little-known tourist sites around the country.
The financing for the campaign is provided under a project worth 1.9 million levs, VAT excluded, under the EU operational program "Regional Development".
The project aimed at promoting domestic tourism involves TV spots for the 50 sites, to be aired by three TV channels with nation-wide coverage, advertorials, and a new website offering information about the sites.
The project is to be completed by August 2015.
The official website of the campaign, myastoto.bg, will be launched in February and will allow tourists to share their experiences with the world.
Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova announced at a press conference on Monday that the campaign to promote domestic tourism was aimed at compensating for the decrease in the number of Russian and Ukrainian tourists.
She vowed to inspect the condition of the 50 sites in person to see if any improvements were necessary.
