Bulgaria Hosts International Congress on World Civilizations and Creative Tourism

More than 100 foreign delegates will arrive in Bulgaria for the International Congress on World Civilizations and Creative Tourism, which is organised by the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism and the World Tourism Organization in Sofia.
The event will be attended by twelve ministers and deputy ministers of tourism and culture from all over the world, many heads of tourism administrations, Secretary-General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Michael Christides, Princess Dana of Jordan.
During the forum the participants will discuss the important role of modern tourism in the preservation of the material and non-material heritage and as a source of generating social and economic indices. One the goals of the international conference is to discuss how to revive the world civilisations through the cooperation between the different industries, such as architecture, design, art, technologies, and science, and to strengthen the interest in them.
According to data of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), 1.2 billion tourists have travelled around the world last year, some 40% of whom showed interest in cultural tourism.
The International Congress on World Civilizations and Creative Tourism is among the most important events in the calendar of the World Tourism Organization, while Bulgaria was given the right to host and organise it.
The congress will take place at Sofia Tech Park on November 29 – December 1, 2016. The official opening will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The ceremony will be followed by a High Level Meeting, which will be moderated by Max Foster, CNN Anchor and Correspondent.
