The sustainable development of the mining industry in Bulgaria is outlined as a major priority. For that purpose the government will provide a balanced economic, social and ecologically responsible approach towards the exploration, extraction and processing of ores and minerals in the country.
The realisation of the priorities included in the strategy will guarantee stable investment environment in one of the key sectors of the Bulgarian economy.
Bulgaria will introduce an efficient system for control on the activities connected with the exploration, extraction and processing of the ores and minerals. One of the major accents in the strategy is the prevention of illegal extraction on the territory of the country.
The realisation of the general and specific strategic goals provided in the document will set preconditions and guarantees for sustainable development of the mining industry in Bulgaria in line with the European initiative for the resources and for conducting a clear state policy on the ores and minerals in the country. It will also provide working conditions in the sector that guarantee a care for the environment by decreasing to the minimum the consequences and the effect of the extraction activities and guaranteeing re-cultivation of the mining terrains.
