Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said that 30 % growth in the number of planned charter flights to the Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas is expected this summer compared to last year.
Commenting the forthcoming summer season on private bTV station on Wednesday, Angelkova stated that the expectations are for a successful and positive season.
The increase in the number of flights from Russia alone is 86 % compared to last year, with the growth of planned flights from Germany and France being respectively 49 % and 60 %.
According to her, this is due to the measures which the ministry has taken since last May to present Bulgaria as a good tourist destination.
In her words, it would have been difficult for the ministry to achieve such results without the support of the sector organisations.
Since last year the ministry has been working with the largest and leading tour operators on the market and has held journalistic tours. The journalistic tours will continue this year, with more than 200 of them foreseen to take place.
